Do you feel the weight of the bills that keep you awake while the neighbour’s child goes without? The reality is that each act of generosity asks you to part with something you have guarded-time that could be spent on a deadline, money that could ease a mortgage, a reputation that might be questioned by those who see giving as foolish. The cost is real, and it sits beside the fatigue of a long day and the anxiety of a looming expense.
Yet the same passage reminds you that when you share a meal with the hungry, you are sharing with the One who sent you. The invitation is not to a painless sacrifice but to a partnership where the loss you experience is counted as a gain in a kingdom that values mercy above comfort. You are called to step forward, knowing the price, trusting the promise that your effort is never unnoticed.

Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you tells him, “Go in peace; stay warm and well fed,” but does not provide for his physical needs, what good is that? So too, faith by itself, if it does not result in action, is dead.
